Unfortunately you can't please everyone. Unless they decide to add an option I have a feeling it will stay the way it is. Honestly seems to me that more people prefer it the way it is since it means you're not messing up your other fits.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the base game installer hosted by the Playstation network? If so it could only be your connection or something PSN's side which the DUST team probably can't do anything about.
